The
Endependence Center (ECI) is celebrating 30 years of advocacy and
independent
-
living in Southeastern Virginia. ECI
was the original Independent Living Center in Virginia,
-
starting a movement whereby
individuals with disabilities were encouraged to forge their
-
own futures, learn from other people
with disabilities and advocate for inclusion and equality.
-
Now, there are 15 Independent Living
Centers in Virginia.

ECI has helped thousands
of people with disabilities move toward independence and become
-
active, involved members of their community through peer mentoring,
independent living skills
-
training, countless workshops and advocacy projects.
